Balvan Singh Punia and Om Pyari Punia’s son Bajrang Punia was born. Punia, the eldest of his three siblings, is the youngest. In Haryana’s Jhajjar district, he is a member of the Jat family.

Bajrang Punia’s wrestling career took off as soon as he stepped onto the world stage. Beginning with the Asian Wrestling Championships in 2013, Bajrang has started representing India internationally. After Sushil Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt, Bajrang Punia was touted as the next great thing in Indian wrestling.
Bajrang Punia was born in Haryana on February 26, 1994. His father worked as a farmer, while his mother was a stay-at-home mom. His father, a wrestling lover, urged him to start learning the sport when he was seven years old. Punia began mud wrestling training at the age of 14 at a local school. Yogeshwar Dutt, an Olympic medallist, was introduced to him and became his mentor and sparring partner.
