Ashish Kumar, an Indian amateur boxer who competes in the middleweight division, was born on July 18, 1994. At the 2019 Asian Championships, he took silver.
Ashish Kumar was born in Dhanotu village, Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh, on July 18, 1994. Bhagat Ram, his farmer father, was a national kabaddi player. Kumar was motivated to start boxing by his brothers and cousins.
Kumar’s father died a month before Kumar competed in Amman, Jordan for the 2020 Olympic Qualification Tournament. He went on to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo by reaching the semifinals of the event.
Because of a string of poor performances and inconsistency, Ashish considered giving up his boxing goals and joining the police or army. He then returned to the sport after performing well in a few competitions. Ashish’s father was a huge supporter of his son’s boxing ambitions and had encouraged him to pursue them further.

Ashish Kumar Chaudhary Career
From the very beginning, Ashish Kumar’s career took off. He got his first gold medal in boxing at the junior state competition in 2009. Kumar placed third in the School Nationals and then competed in the Youth Nationals in 2012. He began competing in Senior Nationals the following year.
Ashish won his first senior national gold medal at the 35th National Games in Kerala in 2015. He won two bronze medals in 2018, one at the Boxing Nationals and the other at the Asian Games Test event. Ashish made his international debut at the India Open International Boxing in the same year, reaching the quarterfinals. He went on to compete in the President’s Cup afterwards.
He competed in the International Boxing Tournament in Stranja, Bulgaria, in 2019. Later that year, while representing India at the Thailand Open, he won his first international gold medal in the Middleweight category. He will compete in the 2019 World Boxing Championships as a result of his accomplishment.
Achievements
In 2019, Ashish Kumar competed in the Asian Boxing Championships for the first time, winning Silver in the 75kg Middleweight category in Bangkok, Thailand. In the same year, Ashish made his World Boxing Championships debut in Yekaterinburg, Russia, but was knocked out after losing to Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan of China in the 75kg Middleweight category.
After reaching the semi-finals of the 2020 Asia and Oceania Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament in Amman, Jordan, Ashish qualified for his first Olympics at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
