During his school days in his hometown, he started to write poems. He was taken to ‘Mushaira’ by his pals, where he began delivering his poetry. He travelled to Mumbai in quest of work in 1999, with only Rs. 700 in his pocket, after graduating. Manoj met an Indian singer and musician who requested that he compose a Bhajan for him. Despite the fact that he had never written a Bhajan before, he accepted the project since he was in desperate need of cash. Anup offered him a check for Rs. 3000 after he finished the Bhajan, which was his first salary in Mumbai. He was hired to write the music for the film ‘Rang Rasiya’ in 2004, but the film was not released until nearly a decade later, in 2014.
