“I had a problem with the coach. An athlete’s performance can only improve if he or she has a working relationship with their coach, but he (Alexander) had stopped listening to me. I requested that I be permitted to practise with another coach from the AFI. In an interview with TOI, Sandeep said, “AFI accepted me, and I’m now at NIS Patiala training under Surender Kumar sir.”
“I qualified for the 2017 World Championships in both the 20km and 50km events in London, but he (Alexander) omitted my name and replaced it with K Ganapathi (20km event). He also entered Ganapathi in the 20km event in Rio instead of me. It’s like working under duress with Alexander,” he remarked.
