Sonam Malik is an Indian freestyle wrestler who competes in the women’s 62kg category for India. Her decision to pursue wrestling was influenced by her father’s desire for her to be a successful wrestler.
Her father was a former wrestler himself. At the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Sports Complex, she was trained by coach Ajmer Malik. She used to practise wrestling on the ground owing to a lack of suitable infrastructure, and she even practised on the road in case the ground became muddy due to rain.
She is currently in the news since he is a member of the Indian team that will compete in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
